So…you want to
start a podcast?
I know just the gal for that!
You’ve been wanting to start a podcast for a while…
What’s holding you back?
Your voice is one of your strongest assets, and can be used in SO many different ways to market your service-based business.
And yet…that OTHER voice in your head won’t stop with the “what-ifs.”
"There are already so many podcasts out there. Who’d listen to mine?"
"I’m so busy. When would I find the time?”
"I wouldn't even know what to talk about."
Sound familiar?
I get it because I was there myself.
And here’s what I’ve learned: You are wildly capable at serving your clients. Your voice is more than enough to anchor your marketing efforts. And your show isn't meant for everyone. It's for the people who are seeking YOUR unique expertise on a specific topic.
You have valuable knowledge to share, and you know that, which is why this podcast idea that keeps rattling around inside your brain won’t shut up.
So how do you do The Big Thing, and make it successful?
The trick to getting results is having a strategy.
The Strategy
Most people start in the wrong place.
The fun part is thinking about episode topics. I get it. But the shows that actually serve their hosts start with strategy: a clear purpose, a format that fits your life, and a promotion plan so the right people can find it.
Without that foundation, a podcast basically becomes a really expensive content hobby.
With it, it becomes your most powerful and intentional marketing tool for your small business.
The Results
With a strategy applied to your process, your show supports your business in so many ways.
It offers a repeatable promotion workflow so your content keeps working for you. It acts as a monetization roadmap that aligns with your goals. Plus, it offers the confidence of knowing you've built something valuable and authentically you.
And ALSO! When you work with me, you’ll get an experienced strategist, an award-winning podcast producer and copywriter, and an enthusiastic cheerleader in your corner.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
For many small businesses, especially service-based businesses, a podcast can be one of the most effective ways to build trust with potential clients. Unlike social media posts that disappear after a day or two, podcast episodes allow people to spend real time with your ideas, personality, and expertise. A podcast helps your audience get to know you before they ever book a call or make a purchase.
-
A podcast gives potential clients the chance to hear your voice, understand your approach, and connect with your values. Over time, that consistency builds trust. Each episode also creates content you can repurpose into “strategic confetti” like blog posts, newsletters, and social media, helping more people discover your business.
-
They absolutely still work. There may be millions of podcasts (or other businesses in your area), but there is only one business with your perspective, experience, and voice. People don't choose service providers simply because they found them online. They choose people they trust. A podcast helps you create that connection in a way that few other marketing channels can.
-
Trust is built through consistency and authenticity. When someone listens to your podcast regularly, they get to know how you think, how you solve problems, and what it's like to work with you. Podcasts create deeper relationships because your audience hears your personality and expertise in your own words.
-
A podcast works best when you've been in business long enough to understand your clients, recognize patterns in the problems you solve, and confidently explain your process. Most successful podcast hosts already have a year or two of business experience and a clear understanding of who they serve.
-
Podcasting is especially powerful for businesses where relationships and trust matter. Service-based businesses — for example, coaches, consultants, designers, photographers, financial professionals, organizers — often see strong results because clients are choosing a person, not just a product.
-
If you enjoy teaching, sharing stories, answering client questions, or building long-term relationships, a podcast may be a great fit. The best podcasts support your larger business goals rather than becoming an expensive content hobby. I help make your podcast episodes work harder because we repurpose your long-form content into other avenues, so we streamline your to-do list by having plenty of content for multiple avenues from one episode.
-
Like most marketing strategies, podcasting is a long game. While some businesses see increased sales and inquiries relatively quickly, the biggest benefits usually come from consistently showing up and building trust over time. Growth is slow, but momentum compounds. I usually recommend committing to a good six months to start gaining traction.
-
The first step isn't buying a microphone. It's figuring out why you want a podcast and how it will support your business. From there, you'll choose your audience, show format, content strategy, equipment, hosting platform, and promotion plan.
-
Most podcasters need a quality microphone, headphones, recording and editing software, and a quiet place to record. The good news is that you don't need an expensive studio setup to create a professional show. You really need solid content. The equipment’s job is to support your content.
-
The best beginning podcast microphone is a dynamic microphone, because it is designed to pick up your voice and not background noise. You can capture really solid audio with a lower-budget microphone if you’re looking for the correct thing.
-
Unfortunately, it depends. Podcast costs vary depending on whether you're launching on your own or working with a professional. I generally say that a good podcast either costs time or money. Expenses will include equipment, hosting, music licensing, recording and editing software, artwork, and marketing support.
-
The best podcast topics sit at the intersection of your expertise and your clients' questions. Think about the conversations you have repeatedly, the challenges you solve, and the stories that illustrate your work. It should also include plenty of your personality!
-
Consistency matters more than frequency. I usually recommend that my clients start with biweekly so production actually fits into your life and business. It’s always better to pleasantly surprise your listeners by increasing to weekly than starting weekly and having to scale back. The right schedule is one you can sustain over time.
-
Your podcast name should communicate who it's for and what listeners will gain from tuning in in five words or less. A memorable title paired with a clear description helps attract the right audience. It also needs to be something that your audience is searching for.
-
I like working with a hosting platform because it pushes your show onto so many directories, but you only have to do the publishing once. You CAN publish your show on Spotify and Apple for free, but it will take far more effort/time on your part to do so.
-
Launching with at least two episodes gives new listeners more content to explore and increases the likelihood that they'll subscribe. Having additional episodes ready can also reduce stress after launch.
-
Both formats can work beautifully. Solo episodes allow you to showcase your expertise directly, while guest interviews bring fresh perspectives and new audiences. The right choice depends on your goals and personality.
-
Many people focus on episode topics before building a strategy. Others underestimate how much time editing, promotion, and content creation require. A successful podcast starts with a strong foundation and a plan for how it supports your business.
-
Absolutely! Working with a podcast strategist/producer can save you hours of research and trial and error. I can’t tell you how many rabbit holes I went down when I was starting my first podcast from scratch. Instead of getting lost in online tutorials, you'll receive direct guidance on equipment, hosting, workflow, promotion, and content strategy.
-
Editing often takes at least three times the length of the final episode. A one-hour recording can easily require three or more hours of editing, plus time for writing titles, show notes, and creating promotional content.
-
One episode can generate social media clips, captions, newsletters, blog posts, quotes, and discussion topics. Teal Hat calls this approach "strategic confetti" because long-form content is broken into smaller pieces and distributed intentionally.
-
I believe a podcast works best as the center of a larger content ecosystem. One conversation can fuel your website, social media, email marketing, partnerships, and client relationships.
-
Some podcasts generate revenue through sponsorships and advertising, while others support existing offers by building trust and attracting clients. The best monetization strategy depends on your business goals and audience.
